Nonfiction was founded by three friends, colleagues, and collaborators who share the same vision about the kind of agency they want to build and the kind of work they want to do.
As luck would have it, you can learn more about those very same three people right here.
Katie is a co-founder of Nonfiction, bringing more than 20 years’ experience leading integrated communications campaigns for companies of all sizes.
Prior to Nonfiction, Katie spent the bulk of her career as general manager, SVP and partner at global communications firm LEWIS, where she oversaw the agency’s San Diego office. Sharing operational responsibility for the agency’s US business, Katie managed the agency’s relationships with public and private companies and created measurable communications campaigns to drive clients’ businesses. While at LEWIS, she drove business development and co-led the integration of LEWIS and Piston Agency, supporting the agency’s growth for more than 12 years. Katie began her career at SSPR, a boutique technology firm based in Chicago.
Throughout her career, Katie has specialized in designing domestic and global communications programs to increase awareness and sales for companies in various industries. Her experience includes IT infrastructure, real estate, healthcare technology, enterprise security, and consumer electronics and services. She has a knack for putting together specialized teams to deliver a mix of strategy and tactics that ensure all facets of marketing work together to drive business growth.
Blessed with two step-children, she enjoys live music, stand-up comedy and spending her free time in Hawaii or Europe. An opponent of the Oxford comma, she is also an avid reader who promises to never brag about being an avid reader.
Mark, a co-founder of Nonfiction, brings more than 20 years of experience in integrating marketing into campaigns of all sorts, for B2C and B2B companies alike.
Prior to Nonfiction, Mark spent the past few years integrating Piston, a full-service agency, into the global network of LEWIS, a communications firm after Piston was acquired. He led the San Diego office and all digital marketing and creative resources in North America. He has spent equal amounts of time on both the agency and client sides, and was previously the global director of digital marketing for Uniworld River Cruises. While there, Mark oversaw all B2B and B2C digital marketing and CRM initiatives for 7 global markets, as well as PR and advertising initiatives for North America. Mark’s previous agency-side experience includes global digital marketing, advertising and public relations programs for agencies such as Cohn&Wolfe, Y&R, S&H, Saatchi&Saatchi and GSW.
Mark specializes in integrated programs involving SEM, SEO, programatic media, traditional media, CRM, and OOH with vertical experience across consumer and enterprise tech, healthcare, beauty, retail, gaming/esports, and hospitality/travel. Mark is very hands-on in all client engagements, providing strategic oversight, a data-centric approach and a laser focus on ROI.
While he is obsessed with driving his clients’ businesses and working for companies with names that include an ampersand, he occasionally takes off to explore the people, food and cultures in cities around the globe.
